Epic Mickey on Wii

Epic Mickey Screen Shots

Epic Mickey is a Platforming game available on the Wii. It can be played in Thirdperson Singleplayer modes.

Epic Mickey is a Platforming game. Platform games task you with getting from point A to point B. The world you journey through is usually based on different levels, and populated with enemies, switches and lifts to be negotiated. As you work through each level you pick up various collectables that accrue score, special abilities and access to hidden areas.

Epic Mickey can be played in a Thirdperson mode. Third Person games view the world from over the right shoulder of the character being controlled. This enables you to see the character you are controlling as well as their surrounds. Although not as immersive as first person, third person games enable more complex moves and interactions with the environment.

Epic Mickey can be played in a Singleplayer mode. Single Player Campaign games focus on one player's experience. Rather than collaborate with other players either locally or online, players progress alone. The campaign style of gameplay offers a connected series of challenges to play through. These chapters work together to tell a story through which players progress. Single player games are able to focus on one experience of a scenario, so that it is usually a richer, more visceral game.

Story Gamer review Mon, 07 Feb 2011

Epic Mickey promised a dark artsy experience. However, while the game takes a fascinating and unique look at the history of one of animation's most iconic studios, it fails to create an enjoyable experience.

I really wanted to like Epic Mickey. As a child my grandma bought me Disney comics every fortnight and (back in those ancient days) the classic cartoons that made Mickey, Pluto and Donald famous were often shown on television between programmes. It's all too clear that in an age where animation technology is as advanced as it now is, the old cartoons have no place in our TV schedules, much like the caption-card silent movies of the same era. Audiences just don't understand them anymore.

Family Gamer review Thu, 25 Nov 2010

Epic Mickey's story runs very deep but needs expert hands to progress. The AWOL with camera and fiddly mechanics are all worth it though, for the genuinely new and unique way to experience a story.

Epic Mickey is a fresh look at the Mickey Mouse franchise and an effort to reinvigorate it for a new generation of gamers. Much the same as when Mickey's Castle of Illusions arrived on the Megadrive, it's immediately impressive when Disney flexes their creative muscle - and everyone starts paying attention.
